Character: Adventurous, energetic, task-oriented

The Pointador is a learner that is quick-witted and sharp. They tend to mature slowly, exploding with an abundance of energy. These dogs will need to burn off steam a lot in the first few years—so be prepared for long games of fetch, jogs, and other high-intensity activities.

These dogs also have a particular affinity for the outdoors. If you love hiking and other outdoor activities, these dogs will gladly accompany you on the trip. This breed may not work with smaller pets, but they seem to get along awesomely with kids over 6 years old.

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Saint Bernard
Height: 25 – 32 inches
Weight: 80 – 150 pounds
Coat Colors: Tricolor, yellow, chocolate, white, black
Character: Determined, intelligent, devoted

The Labernard is the hybrid of the Lab and St. Bernard. As you can guess, this dog gets pretty big. So, unfortunately, we can’t recommend them for apartment dwellers. But they make awesome additions to homes where they have lots of space to run around.

This pairing generally creates pups who are strong-willed, playful, and incredibly connected to their family system.

These dogs might fare okay in apartments, but they can be a little vocal. They do, however, work very well with kids and older adults.

13. Dachsador (Labrador Retriever x Dachshund)

The Lab and Corgi mix—or Corgidor is a small-statured, sprightly little dog that loves to snoop. This pairing makes a very social dog who might be a little bossy from time to time—but it’s all in good fun.

These dogs are typically very family-friendly and get along great with other pets. Since both parent breeds are sometimes too intelligent for their own good, they are highly trainable with a love for new tasks.

15. Spanador (Labrador Retriever x American Cocker Spaniel)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/American Cocker Spaniel
Height: 18 – 22 inches
Weight: 22 – 50 pounds
Coat Colors: Liver, rust, yellow, golden, brown, black
Character: Laidback, good-natured, observant

The Spanador is a darling dog that is both attractive and full of personality. It takes on the floppy, velvety ears of the Spaniel parent while keeping the muscular body of the Lab. This dog is very playful, but they also enjoy tons of snuggles.

These dogs are perfect matches for growing families, older adults, and singles. They mesh with just about any stranger, child, or creature. But keep in mind, every dog is unique, and some may be more reserved than others.

16. Bullmasador (Labrador Retriever x Bull Mastiff)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Bull Mastiff
Height: 23 – 29 inches
Weight: 70 – 140 pounds
Coat Colors: Brown, black, tan, red chocolate

The Bullmasador takes on attractive traits from its parents—the Bull Mastiff and Lab. These dogs are usually very protective but decisive when they judge new people. But they are highly trainable, making a terrific watch or guard dog.

These dogs form intense bonds with owners and they take their roles in families seriously. However, because they are so large, they do best with older children. Especially when they are young, they might not exhibit body control during play.

17. Labrasetter (Labrador Retriever x Irish Setter)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Irish Setter
Height: 21 – 23 inches
Weight: 55 – 100 pounds
Coat Colors: Mahogany, chestnut, red, yellow, black, brown

The Labrasetter combines two very family-friendly breeds. These dogs tend to be graceful and elegant, but they don’t mind romping around or getting dirty. Labrasetters are large breeds that have great discernment with strangers and situations.

This combo loves to see new things, so this will definitely be a dog to jump with excitement each time they hear your keys jingle.

18. Kelpador (Labrador Retriever x Australian Kelpie)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Australian Kelpie
Height: 18 – 23 inches
Weight: 40 – 70 pounds
Coat Colors: White, yellow, chocolate, black
Character: Playful, adventurous, excitable

The Kelpador creates an athletic dog thanks to its Lab and Kelpie parents. This breed will keep you on your toes, constantly ready for the next point of action. These dogs require constant mental stimulation and do best with a big yard to run around.

Both parent breeds are very high-energy and playful, so they make excellent companions to children that are roughly 6 years and older. They usually get along with other dogs but might chase smaller animals—even with proper socialization.

19. Alaskan Malador (Labrador Retriever x Alaskan Malamute)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Alaskan Malamute

These dogs are highly affectionate and connected with their human families. They get along well with many household pets and make great playmates for children.

21. Labrabull (Labrador Retriever x American Pit Bull Terrier)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/American Pit Bull Terrier
Height: 20 – 24 inches
Weight: 45 – 90 pounds

Character: Lively, friendly, devoted

The Labrabull takes the American Pit Bull Terrier muscle and combines it with the agility of the Lab. This powerful duo makes a fun-loving, on-the-move dog that loves to explore the world.

These dogs tend to be very mild-tempered and make strong connections with owners. Because Pit Bulls and mixes aren’t permitted in some apartment complexes or housing, always check with your landlord for restriction concerns before committing.

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Vizsla
Height: 21 – 24 inches
Weight: 50 – 80 pounds
Coat Colors: Rust, yellow, fawn, chocolate, black

The charming Labrala takes on such good traits from its Lab and Vizsla parents. These dogs are sleek and muscular, touting short shiny fur and adorably floppy ears. Even though they are larger, they tend to be very aware of their surroundings.

This dog is a gentle, kind dog with patience—making them ideal picks for children, even as a first dog. They love getting outside to fetch or just to run off some energy. Because of their need for exercise, they don’t do well with apartment living.

23. Labmaraner (Labrador Retriever x Weimaraner)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Weimaraner
Height: 21 – 24 inches
Weight: 60 – 100 pounds
Coat Colors: Gray, black, brown, yellow, blue
Character: Energetic, work-oriented, neurotic

Labmaraners are packed with energy, so they will definitely benefit from having a job to do. These dogs are best fit for people who have active lifestyles so they can burn off some steam. This breed can get nervous and develop bad behaviors if left for long periods with no stimulation.

Because of their large size and vitality, they work best with older children and aren’t the best recommendation for older adults. They might also exhibit a high prey drive, rendering them incompatible with smaller pets.

24. Springador (Labrador Retriever x Springer Spaniel)

Height: 25 – 28 inches
Weight: 55 – 100 pounds
Coat Colors: Gray, black, white, yellow, brown
Character: Skittish, pack-oriented, bonded

The stunning Wolfador is not for the faint of heart. These dogs come with the primal, fierce intelligence of their grey wolf parent, posing a complicated offspring that isn’t a traditional dog. However, the friendliness and even-tempered nature of the Lab bring a sweet element of tameness to this creature.

Looking for an agreeable temperament is paramount. These dogs will require lots of interaction with people and animals of all kinds.

27. Lab Pei (Labrador Retriever x Shar Pei)

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Shar Pei
Height: 18 – 25 inches
Weight: 45 – 60 pounds
Coat Colors: Fawn, sable, yellow, brown, black
Character: Reserved, cautious, loyal

The adorable, wrinkly Lab Pei is the product of mixing the Lab and Shar Pei. While every puppy can take traits from its parents, this combo seems to even the puppies out. They carry the amiable nature of the Lab to cancel out the potential aggression of the Shar-Pei parent.

These dogs can be great protectors and usually have good judgment. However, we recommend the Lab Pei for older kids.

Coat Colors: Fawn, red, white, brown, black
Character: Sensitive, ornery, independent

The Rhodesian Labrador is a combo of two beauties—the Lab and Rhodesian Ridgeback. These dogs are physically stunning, with athletic bodies and even coloring.

Hybrid: Labrador Retriever/Boston Terrier

Final Thoughts

How many of these incredible Lab mixes did you write down for additional research? There sure are a lot to choose from. Labs lend a ton of personality and energy into the mix, leveling many dominant or finicky traits in other parent breeds.

If you love any of these dogs, you might be in luck. Lots of shelters have many lab mixes that need homes forever. It wouldn’t hurt to search if you would be willing to adopt instead of buying a pup from a breeder.
