The Saluki, Royal dog of Egypt or Iranian Greyhound is an amazing at speed outside but very laid back or calm indoor. They are known as a quiet dog but seeming reserved or distant. Though the breed seems fragile and graceful but it must be kept in mind it is an outstanding hunter and has the stamina and strength to chase the prey even at longer distances over very tough terrain. It is an ancient breed with an outstanding independent nature. It is a sensitive breed that can be a cause of confliction among family members. Saluki History

The history of the breed is not less than a mystery. Egyptian Royal dog, the Saluki is an olden dog breed that is known as domesticated dog. it hold tremendous esteem in their bodies as the bodies of Pharaohs. The Arab used this breed initially for tracking and bringing down gazelle, the fastest of antelopes. In 1840 it was imported to England. In England it been used for hare hunting. It was not popular in U.S up to early 1900s. in 1929, the breed was recognized by AKC.

Saluki Appearance

Salukis have slender and sleek frames coated in swish, smooth coats. Their slim heads have broad skulls, dark eyes and long, feathered ears. Their long, curved necks have nice tonus, sloping right down to slim chests and somewhat broad backs. they need long tails coated in smooth hair, and their coats will are available white, off-white, fawn, red, tan, black & tan and tricolor (white, black & amp; tan).
