Neither like rat tarrier nor like Jack Russell in temperament, but sometimes just mistaken with them due to its facial appearance. The Mountain Feist is alike Lurcher and not a specific breed. However, it is a compact dog with glossy and pretty handsome posture. The body of the dog shaped into a muscular physique and it emanates the vigor. With a good body length it is an appealing dog. A reasonable hunting and companion dog with curious, alert, intelligent and active personality. It is a skillful communicator and know how to communicate with the master by baying, barking and growling. It is protecting of those people to whom it belongs nicely. In accordance with its applicable as squirrel dog, the Feist is also nice at quarrying raccoons and tracking the big games. It is noteworthy, mainly three types or varieties of the Mountain Feist, is being bred by American breeders. The Mountains short coat is easy to groom, it only need just casual combing and brushing to remove dead hairs from the appealing coat. The Coat is usually sleek, glossy and short in length. The Colors of the coat are included tri-colors with spots, red & white, black & tan, red & black, red brindle & white, blue & white. Height of the breed is from 10 to 22 inches while weight is from 10 to 30 pounds. Generally, a healthy Mountain Feist may live a life of 18 years.

Mountain Feist History

No one has unveiled the mystery of its origin in fact, but it is commonly believed, perhaps it was created within North American by crossing the English terriers with American Indian Dogs. Now, it is a valuable asset of the hunters, farmers and the families for their tremendous tracking and pest control skills. It is hunting cum companion dog.
