Native in Japan, the Japanese Terrier breed is just resemble Rat Terriers and fox terriers. It also referred as Nippon Terrier, Nihon Terrier and Nihon Teria. Smaller in size and compact built with a muscular and sturdy body and tight skin. Japanese Terrier is an active and spirited, lively and cheerful and intelligent dog breed. History of this Japanese breed started from 17th century when Fox Terriers has brought to Japan onboard Dutch and British Ships. They were bred with small Pointers and local dogs and became most beloved as companion in short-time. In fact, the breed has bred purely as pet dog rather than as a vermin killer like other various terriers. In 1930, the Japanese Kennel Club recognized and formulated the breed standards. In 2006, the UKC recognized the Japanese Terrier as a breed. Nowadays, popular lapdog in its native land, Japan and also has a reasonable number of lover in U.S.A and Europe.
