During 19th century, in Staffordshire, England, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed was originated and developed by crossing many terriers with bulldogs. This breed selectively bred for Bull-Baiting, a famous sport in those days. With the decline of this sport the fame of the breed also has gradually diminished. With the ban on this sport gradually the breed become rare; however, now being a family dog it is getting its graceful status and popularity. It is not only a house pet and family dog, some of the breeders are using this breed for weight pulling competitions and jumping as an athlete dog. This dog is not for every family, it is suitable for only very active and lively families. The Intelligent and playful Irish Staffordshire Bull Terriers will do everything happily including play, given tasks and love. Not only obedient and affectionate but Irish Staffordshire Bull Terriers are also very bold and fearless. The people oriented Irish staff also possesses a great sense of humor and would like to amuse the owner.
