The Hamiltonstovare is hunting hound, bred in Sweden. Tri-colored Hamliton hound also known as Hamiltonstovare and Swedish Foxhound, it was bred by mixing various German hounds, English foxhounds and Harriers. The breed was originated by the founder of the Swedish Kennel Club named Count Adolf Hamilton who wished to create a dog that would be capable to hunt single fox in the hares. It is a medium sized dog and known by white blaze on the skull, neck, four white paws and white tail tip. Due to his lighter frames it discriminated from English Foxhound. Somewhat stubborn but generally is easygoing. Nice behaved with children, the breed makes a wonderful hunting dog with a very high prey drive. Due to its high prey drive the cautions are needed to be taken with little pets. Typically the breed is devoted, courageous, energetic, patient, friendly and even tempered. In matters of training it needs a firm, gentle but confident and powerful pack leader. Consistent and firm yet gentle training can do well. These dogs are adjustable and can fit in any environment. It is a breed with bundles of endurance and need to be taken on daily, long brisk walk, jog or run. While you are in open or insecure are never let the dog to be off-leash so that it cannot run off trailing scents. To avoid behavior issues owner must be a firm and confident. It is a dog with rectangular but well proportioned body, striking an impression of endurance and strength. It looks very upstanding, handsome, hardy and quiet. Not over pronounced but stop well, the head is long, rectangular with somewhat arched and fairly broad head. Rectangular muzzle of the breed is moderately long and large. The outer coat is weather –resistant and running close to the body. The coat beneath the tail, usually the hairs are longer but not making a fringe. The profuse hairs are between pads. The coat color is black on neck, upper side of tail, rear side, and either sides of trunk. While side of the neck is brown, tail and trunk also brown. A blaze of white markings is on muzzle, under side of neck, chest, lower legs, tip of tail and feet as well. It is tricolored dog and a blend of brown and black color is unwanted.
