The clean cut Belgian Shorthaired Pointer was originated in Belgium and also known as Braque Belge. The movements of the breed are agile, swift with a rather flowing gait. It is high spirited, lovable and tender dog. The Belgian Shorthaired Pointer is known as a rare breed and extinct. The FCI (Fédération Cynologique Internationale) to delete before this kind from their registers, which this is officially regarded as extinct. The reason for this action is that only a few animals of this breed can be found worldwide. The Belgian Shorthaired Pointer/Braque Belge is only very rarely and is now no longer officially recognized by the FCI. It has a hound heritage and was bred as a hound dog. The Belgian Shorthaired Pointer/Braque Belge applies characteristic as friendly, but also temperamental dog. Belgian Shorthaired Pointers are generally active indoor and can abode in apartments easily if provided with sufficient amount of exercise on daily basis. Fair amount of exercise and a moderate routine for activities is recommended, it includes daily long walks, run or jogs. It needs an ample space to roam around. The height of the Belgian Shorthaired Pointer is 23 to 28 inches and weight is 52 to 61 pounds.

The head of the breed is rather broad but with a less defined stop. Eyes of dog are coloring chestnut, amber of dark yellow. Ears are set at eyes level and moderately long. Muzzle is well proportioned to head and is medium in size. Black colored according to coat but usually found black. Teeth are scissor bite or level. Slightly arched neck is medium in length. Overall body of the dog is broad, straight and somewhat longer than tall. Longer legs are built more for power but less for speed. Feet of the breed are short and round. Tail meet docked usually. The coat of breed is somewhat short, thick and fine and coloring white with big brow patches, heavy ticking gives gray look.
